Flatlay Without really trying

Recently, flat lay layouts are everywhere in Instagram! From jaw-dropping food posts to detailed OOTDs, flat lays are the "in" thing when you want to shower your followers with every little bit of your photo. Flat lays are basically items placed on a flat surface, strategically placed and taken from a bird's eye view angle. This means, you'd have to stand up or take the extra height to capture all the nooks and crannies of your ingenious creation.

I'm not a great stylist, but there is one app I trust for all my flat lay and collage goals look without really trying; Polyvore. I started using Polyvore this year and I've been continually using it for the whole summer. According to the site,

"Polyvore is a new way to discover and shop for things you love in fashion, beauty and home decor."

Polyvore is a social app and website that uses different fashion and interior design items varying from different brands and styles to create a collage or flat lay post. The app is exceptionally fun especially when you get the hang of the mix and match concept users do. Think of it as a collage tool much like the styles of what fashion and home magazines use.

This is what basically gets you started; the create a collage page. This page is loaded with different categories of fashion items and home furniture items. Just click away and drag items to the blank canvas and start creating great posts.

One of the exciting elements of Polyvore is the weekly contests they have in the app. They choose a certain trend or topic, and the challenge is for you to style the trending item or scheme.

Last week, pleated skirts was the contest trend. I instantly created my flat lay and posted this along with the other submissions.
