A succulent Mother's Day

It was 8am when I woke up to get ready, and be picked up by my dad to take a visit to the Mindanao Flower Center. It was Mother's Day and I didn't want to give my mom the common bouquet of roses and chocolates. I wanted to give her something she could take care of and something in the shades of green (because it's her favorite color).
The week before, I searched all day in Pinterest about mother's day gift ideas. Common results were spa gift baskets, diy candles and rainbow colored roses. I finally stumbled upon a link about charming terrariums with various succulents. Terrariums are basically a variety of small plants placed in a vase or glass container filled with levels of sand, activated charcoal, pebbles, soil and moss. Succulent plants on the other hand, are small fat fleshy plants that retain moisture in arid climates, making it perfect for the indoors.
I got so inspired by my search, I had to make one as a gift.

After coming home from the Mindanao Flower Center, which is located past Damosa Gateway, I was excited to assemble my succulents in the glass container. The succulents were fairly priced since they were small and required little maintenance, just a spray of water once a day every other day.
Seems like an easy project, right? The assembly of the succulents was personally difficult because I didn't know how much soil was needed to support the plants, and I had a hard time balancing the plants so they wouldn't take too much space in each part of the bowl. After a few moments of reconstruction, I was able to achieve the spacing of the plants I desired. I sprayed the soil with water and began to even it out throughout the bowl. I finally placed some white stones on top of the soil to make the color of the plants stand out.

(I got the bowl from the department store of SM Lanang)
My brother, Yancy, finally then added his handwritten Mother's Day card.

My mom got the gift before we left home, and she felt overjoyed by our efforts. She instantly loved it!
We then spent Mother's Day by having an overnight in Seda Hotel. We bought snacks and ice cream, then watched a download of the movie The Boss.

Mother's Day was definitely a day of creativity, relaxation and succulents!
