There seems to be something so nice about bookmarks that complement a great book, it instantly adds color to pages and keeps you reminded to get back to finishing it.

Yesterday, I was wandering around National Bookstore while waiting for my brother to pick a Post-It notes pack for school. As I walked through different aisles, my attention was caught by a shelf filled top to bottom with Haruki Murakami books. One after the other, I read the different synopsis and finally decided on purchasing Murakami's Norwegian Wood with the hope for a good read to fill the final days of my summer.

I went home and decided to kill time by creating a bookmark for my new book. I then searched for D.I.Y. bookmarks and came up with creating a very inexpensive bookmark.

First, cut out a triangular shape from the envelope. Make sure you cut where two sides of the envelope are folded. Decrease the size to your liking (I personally commend a bigger triangle, you'll know why later) and try to fit the triangle to the right side top corner of your book.

Next, the fun part!

Cover your triangle with some washi tape or any decorative material you have available. The bigger triangle you have, the more free space there is to design your bookmark. My advice is to stick with 2 to 3 colors or add a quote to design the bookmark. With my bookmark, I stuck with the color of the book's cover which was purple and yellow.

Ta-Da!!

Chic and unique, right?
